Hambantota International Port (HIP) was awarded ISO certification. The HIP is the first Sri Lankan port to achieve ISO certification. The accreditations gained were ISO 9001:2015 – Quality, ISO 14001:2015 – Environmental protection, and ISO 45001:2018 – Occupational Health and Safety, all of which are firsts for the region in the port business.

The Hambantota International Port, located ten nautical miles from the global commerce route, is Sri Lanka’s sole deep draft, multi-purpose port. The port will offer a range of services such as container, breakbulk, Ro-Ro, bunkering, cruise, oil, bulk terminal, gas, and project cargo. In addition, the Port is focusing on new technology and environmental measures to improve digital information flow and sustainable practices across the supply chain. The port is expected to be unequaled since it will be the country’s sole port equipped to handle the full range of marine and logistical services.
