Aboard a Bulk Carrier in Mauritius waters, a Pinoy ship captain stabbed by a Countryman. On November 21, a Filipino ship captain was stabbed to death by the vessel’s cook, who was also Filipino, during an altercation on board the Meghna Liberty cargo ship in the territorial seas of Mauritius.
Captain Rolly Basquilos Solante, 44, was stabbed 30 times by suspect Alfred Kenneth Calopez, 33.
According to reports from the Port’s Criminal Investigation Division, the dispute began when the captain chastised the cook for his actions.

Calopez confessed to the crime and was hauled to court in Port-Louis on Tuesday, November 23.
The victim’s body was sent to the mortuary at Victoria Hospital in Candos for autopsy.
