Seafarers were the unsung pandemic heroes, who imposed enormous demands on them, yet persisted to carry essential commodities throughout the globe. Without seamen, the maritime industry would cease to exist. World Maritime Day is commemorated officially on 30th September 2021.
The Maldives also took part in the illumination of government authorities and state-owned companies calling attention to mariners and their key role in shipping, and their future.
A remarkable number of institutions joined for the first time in history in marking World Maritime Day.
