MSS Galena’s maiden voyage has begun; the Maldives State Shipping (MSS)’s first cargo ship arrived with 229 boxes in the Maldives.
Managing Director of Maldives State Shipping, Mr.Abdulla Saeed, CEO of MPL Mr.Shahid Ali, and Minister of State for Transport Mr.Ahmed Zuhair were present at the event to commemorate the arrival of the MSS Galena in the Maldives.
According to the state-owned shipping operator MSS Galena can carry 680 boxes and 60 reefer containers at the same time. The shipping scheduled between Colombo and Male’ has been booked every eight days, according to the firm.
Owning a ship, according to MSS Saeed’s Managing Director, is a reflection of the company’s success in the marine sector. He also stated that Maldivians will have more work prospects as a result of this.
According to Saeed, the firm plans to expand its fleet in the coming year. He also stated that efforts would be made to develop individuals in the industry in order to locate the needed workers.

On MSS Galena’s maiden journey, he claimed, 299 containers of cargo were delivered to the Maldives.
On October 30th, 2021, the MSS Galena arrived in the Maldives for the first time. On Tuesday, the ship docked at a Colombo repair jetty for shipside painting and a name change before returning to the Maldives.
MSS chartered two vessels before acquiring MSS Galena for an unknown sum. After the termination of the time charter, the vessels were turned over.
