The Ministry of National Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure (MNPHI) awarded the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) for infrastructure development projects on five islands. MTCC awarded new harbor and coastal projects.
MTCC’s CEO Adam Azim and Ministry’s Permanent Secretary Zeeniya Ahmed Hameed signed the agreements on Thursday in a special ceremony held at the Ministry.
The first project awarded is AA. Ukulhas Harbor Upgrading Project- valued at MVR 37.2 million and to be completed within a year. Work under the project includes harbor dredging operations, constructing a revetment, a breakwater, a quay wall, a connectivity bridge with a concrete jetty, and installing harbor lights and harbor pavement.
The second project awarded was the ADh. Dhigurah Harbor Upgrading Project. The project is valued at MVR 53 million and is to be completed in 570 days. Works to be completed include harbor dredging and channel dredging, constructing a revetment, a breakwater, a quay wall, a concrete jetty, and installation of mooring buoys, harbor lights, and harbor pavement.

Sh. Maa’ungoodhoo Harbour Design & Build Project was also awarded to MTCC with a project valued at MVR 59.7 million and is to be completed within 475 days. The works include harbor and channel dredging, construction of a breakwater, a quay wall, a revetment, a ramp, and a concrete jetty, and installation of mooring buoys, navigational aids, and harbor pavement.
In addition, Th. Dhiyamigili Coastal Protection Project was also awarded to MTCC. The project valued at MVR 23.1 million is to be completed within 365 days. Works to be completed include harbor construction of a breakwater and a revetment. The last to be awarded was Th. Vilufushi Coastal Protection Projection is valued at MVR 11.1 million and is to be completed within 130 days. Works include dredging operations, dredging of a swimming area, construction of a groyne and a revetment, and installation of barrier floats within a periphery of the swimming area.
